Kitties, Kitties and More Kitties

Introducing Maggie and Pixie...

I had decided that after the passing of Ellie, that I wanted two new kitties. So, I adopted Squeaker and it didn't feel right to adopt another at the time (this was back in April).

Well, 2 of Squeaker's litter mates (her sisters) were still available in late June and the group was having a deal (kind of like buy one get one). So I adopted her sisters.

They have all been getting along splendidly! They are all such sweet, nice and cuddly (!!!) kitties.

They will all be a year old around Halloween.
Pixie definitely has the largest personality. She demands attention and barks like a little dog. She chases around the other two. In the picture, she is the black kitty looking at the feather toy.
Maggie is my lap kitty, she follows me around everywhere. Right now she has a bad cold, coughing and sneezing. We are treating it with an antibiotic, so I hope it gets better soon. In the picture, she is the one all the way on the right. She is also a black kitty with a little white on her chest.
Squeaker is doing well too. After a couple of days of hissing and growling, she started sleeping and playing with her sisters.

New Crochet Pattern - My First Teddy Bear

Finally!

I actually finished another pattern! Introducing "My First Teddy Bear" Amigurumi Crochet Pattern.

I was having some issues with the nose, but I think it turned out okay. I was also having issues with my new kitty cats trying to destroy the prototype my needing it. I think I repaired it fairly well.

I will introduce the other two new additions to the family in an upcoming post.

Please visit my store on Etsy for more details about my new pattern!

Slacker!

Okay, so it has happened! I haven't updated in over 2 months...UGH!

So much is going on that I can't even keep up with everything.

Good news, I am working on a new pattern for a Teddy Bear (he is pretty darn cute). He is almost complete, he needs a nose though.

More to come...hopefully with pictures!

Meet Squeaker

Squeaker is my new kitty cat. She is about 6 months old. She is a black tortise shell. And apparently love the computer.

Crazy Month

Well, I haven't posted in over a month. It has been a crazy one!

Unfortunately, we had to put down Ellie the day before Easter. She took a huge turn for the worse the week leading up to Saturday. By the end, she could hardly breathe. It was one of the saddest things I have ever seen.

The house was so empty and quiet. And after thinking about it, I haven't been without a kitty cat since I was about 5 years old. Yikes, that was a long time ago. Coming home from work was terrible, no kitty to greet me. :-(

So, I lasted about a week and we ended up going to local pet store where they were having a cat adoption. One of the kitties pretty much adopted me. So we brought her home. Her original name was Egypt, but I didn't think it fit, so I renamed her Squeaker. She has the cutest little meow that sounds more like a squeak. She is about 6 months old. One of the most patient and mellow kitties I have ever met! I will probably be getting her a friend soon. She is definitely a polar opposite of Ellie. I really miss my Ellie too!

Then, my mom's, brother's and my birthday all fall within a week (end of April, beginning of May)...it is almost like Christmas all over again! Followed by Mother's Day...yikes! Hopefully the running around to the relatives will take a break for a bit. It wears me out!

Seasons Are A Changin'

Well, we had an interesting day of weather yesterday...first there was rain, then huge snowflakes started coming down late in the morning. Later on in the afternoon we had more rain with hail. This morning there was a nice coating of snow.

I guess old Mother Nature can't make up her mind. But one thing is clear, the seasons are changing here in Minnesota.

Oscar the Bunny Rabbit

I finally finished the proto-type for a bunny rabbit crochet animal. The pattern is available on Etsy at: http://www.etsy.com/search_results_shop.php?search_type=user_shop_ttt_id_6210963&search_query=oscar

I would put it out on Ebay, but Ebay has decided I was in violation of their policies. Apparently, "Sales of digital items -- meaning those you can download or send by email -- are restricted on eBay. Sellers need to use the Classified Ad format for these items and only list them in the Everything Else > Information Products category." So, I went to look what was out in this category...there aren't any amigurumi patterns. Hmmm...I will have to think about this one.

Update on Ellie -- well, she had another low blood sugar incident about a week and a half ago. So, no meds for now. We had to pick up an appetite stimulant because her metabolism went down to nothing, which of course affects her insulin levels. Ah, what a wicked web we weave. So, she was supposed to start up her hyperthyroid meds tomorrow, but the vet indicated we should wait a couple more weeks.

Ah, the Bulldogs won the WCHA Final Five on Saturday...it was very exciting! So, they got a second seed for the NCAA tournament. The west regional is here in Minneapolis. I went to see how much tickets were...ha, they were $170 for the 3 games for 2 people. UGH! Hopefully the games will be on TV.

Well, that is all for now.

Ellie Update

Well, it has been an interesting day so far. I took Ellie down to the vet to check on how she was doing with her new pills to treat her thyroid condition. The doctor thought she was doing really well, she has gained about 1/2 pound and her heart rate was really good.

So, I drove back home, where she jumped out of the car once we were in the garage and ran to the back door.

A little while later, she was digging in her food pushing it all over the place, then she started pacing. It looked like her back legs were giving out. She would walk around the entire room really close to the wall. Chris (my hubby) finally decided to call the vet back, and then thought she might be in insulin shock. So, we got out the Caro syrup, which she licked off of my finger quite quickly. The vet also thought it was insulin shock.

She seems to be doing better now. We are going to take her back to the vet in a little bit.

I wish the vet wasn't so far away (about 30 minute drive), it has been a long day and it isn't over yet. I am going to the same vet that my parents have been going to forever. He is a really good vet and seems to take care of the animals really well. When I moved north of the Cities about 11 years ago, I just continued to take her there.

More to come...

Meet Ellie

Ellie is my kitty cat. She will be 14 in March. Ellie is full of personality. She likes to lick the walls, it is especially fun at 3:00 in the morning when I am trying to sleep.

A few years ago she was diagnosed with Diabetes. My hubby and I have been giving her a daily shot of insulin every morning. She doesn't need much, just a unit a day, but it definitely helps a lot. This diagnosis changed the way we travel and go on vacations. She is very, very picky about who can be around her. So we just bring her along on vacation. She just really hates the car ride, but she is really good once we check into the hotel.

Last week, she was diagnosed with Hyper Thyroid. I guess we can treat this with pills, which is fine with me because she is a trooper when taking pills.

She still plays quite a bit and can be a real pain when she wants. It is really hard to believe that she is almost 14 years old.

Day Off

Today I had the day off from work (yea!).

So I read for a little while this morning, I am currently reading a book that I borrowed from my mom, Killer Hair by Ellen Byerrum. The book is decent, I am not a huge fan of fashion, but the story keeps moving. I am a huge fan of mystery books, especially cozies. My favorite authors are Mary Jane Clark, Maddy Hunter, Victoria Laurie, Linda O. Johnston and many more.

This afternoon I decided to spend sometime online with City of Heroes (COH). Yes, an online MMORPG. For a long, long time my MMORPG of choice was WOW (World of Warcraft), I have a level 70 Dwarf Hunter, Carate. I did buy the latest expansion but I haven't played it yet. I have been focusing on COH. I was playing my magic blaster Ms. Icestorm. I finally got to level 44 today, thanks to a wonderful group that I joined for a few missions (the level cap is 50).

I took a little break from crocheting because my wrists and fingers were stiff and soar. I am working on a pattern that I purchased. I just love tulips, but the real ones don't last very long. Thanks to KTBdesigns.

Tonight, I will be watching lots of college hockey. It is getting towards the end of the season, so the games are really important. My favorite college hockey team is the UMD Bulldogs. I went to college in Duluth and even had season tickets my senior year. They aren't doing too badly this year, they are currently ranked 15th in the nation...not too bad!

Well, that is all for now, off to watch some hockey!

Hello!

Good Afternoon!

I thought I would try out this blogging again. I didn't keep up the last time, but maybe this time will be different?!?!

I opened up an Etsy shop in October 2008 to sell some of my amigurumi crochet pattern creations. Within the last month, I have opened up another Etsy shop to sell some of the finished products from my crochet patterns.
